Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ‘97… wear sunscreen.

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be IT.

The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked.

You are NOT as fat as you imagine.

Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing every day that scares you.

Sing.

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss.

Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind. The race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.

Remember compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch.

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. Whatever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself, either. Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body, use it every way you can. Don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.

Dance. Even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.

Be nice to your siblings; they are your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography in lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you’ll have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you’re 40, it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.

Life is in Japordy?

Hi,

I have found quite a lot of people in Orkut community and blogs! Who call themselves ranging from lucky-less, suicide, etc! If you are one, this is for you! I know friend life sucks @ times and pretty difficult to walk through if it is really a journey! If you are depressed you would have tried books, friends, etc (and hopefully medicine if you are a serious case) I knew they would have turned sour and senseless, the favorite TV programs or your favorite book are pure torture than anything else!

What am I going to tell you new?

Friend, I’m not going to tell you read good books and be happy! To be honest good books no matter how good it is, will be of little use when we are stuck, and in fact it will have reverse effect, putting additional pressures on you to be good, great as any self-help book tells on its back cover. My first suggestion discard all the books! really even your favorite. This is first step that will give peace of mind, no additional pressure or responsibility to finish your 20th uncompleted self-help book!

Next, Forget Yourself !

Really, live for others even it is going to be for your parents, sister, brother, neighbor, poor people, dog!!, cat!! whoever you think deserve your love! just love them! think what you are going to gift them (even it is going to be in future) after all they deserved “your” love, aren’t you are special and such unique and precious gift that they should be truly rewarded to gained your Love. If you don’t find anyone check my next step!

What else?

I know you are born with some talents even your favorite enemy(!) don’t have! Friend, no one ever born with all talents and luck! in the same vein if you are unlucky that tell you you were somehow talented in some department either you have found what it is or not yet. Tap it, if it is sleeping, raise it. Your talent can be as simple as you got good presence people take a look at wherever you walk or talk, or you can communicate well, you got damn creativity, you can program computers well, etc…once you found your strength develop it deeper, while you are sharpening your strength, at times even in the middle of the process, you will be presented with opportunity requiring exactly the same skill as you are honing now!

Do you have it?

Do you like your country , are you brave, can you reform your society? can you plunge yourself into politics? these are further options, if you failed to recognize your strength in your previous step but found lots of mishaps in Govt. or Society. That requires your skill, will and strength so you correct as you feel it should be.

What is all for?

Love. Life is lived for recognition and importance. Recognition and importance are achieved because implicitly it tell you so many people are Loving you and you are Loved. Easiest way to achieve this is collect/accumulate love, at every chance you get, be delighted, happy and thankful and also enjoy the whole stuff when you are connected with another person or being like when you smiling at another person or when you talking with someone you know already, etc. After all “LOVE IS LIFE” “LOVE IS ALL”.

i introducing iPhone

Okey, I got the damnest gadget in the world [as of today]. Is it really worth the hype? You bet, it is.

What is special about iPhone?

  • Phone, don’t’ tell obviously, it such a neat gadget you almost forget it is a phone, so when you get a call you really feel surprised. I long wished for a PDA, to carry my stuff and to have a sleek and small phone even it is going to be cheap that would be for phone usage alone and PDA covers else. Now the iPhone does everything and also it is a phone, hurray!
  • Organizer, neat and simple application to schedule your Events.
  • iPod, if you don’t know what is iPod, it is one of THE best music player, and foremost one to revolutionize the world of mp3 players, so you get a latest generation of iPod with your iPhone, hey it is not separate gadget or a component, it is in-built, only one sleek device is what you have to use. So your iPhone is your iPod!
  • Videos, revolutionary touch screen which is bright and crisp means you are going to get stunning visual quality when you do watch movies with your iPhone. I bet you would never have seen such a sharp, crystal-clear display in your life in an mobile device.
  • Camera, obvious stuff for a mobile device nowadays, you get 2 mp camera, which is very good.
  • Good pair of headphones, isn’t it is petty thing to discuss? NO headphones are as important as the device, if you don’t have good pair of headphones, your iPhone/mp3 player is of little use to get rich sound into your ears! Most of the great device (Mp3 Players/Music Phones) will not ship good headphones, so you end up buying a good headphone from Shure, Sennheiser if you aware of headphone importance. Forget all that, iPhone ships very good headphone, probably you don’t need to buy another, it also has cute button for hands-free usage and a mic.
  • Photos, store all your fav. photo and it got nice software to show it to your friends, what not, even the hardware plays with you, just flip/turn the phone, the direction you turn, the photos too turn

To be honest isn’t all these above functionality is provided by latest phones from Nokia, SE?

To a layman, yes it is all same, even to those who have not laid their hands on the iPhone. As I did, I tell you why it is not. First the hardware is not the same as you have seen in your lifetime (unless you are an electronic scientist) it got volume up/down button, ringer/silence, home and power buttons alone. To make a call, send an sms, store notes you will use the whole pure flat touch screen along with accelerometer and other sensors, the software running under those touchscreen are not just mobile firmware like most of Nokia phones, it is Operating System (OS) similar to your personal computer (PC). Some Nokia/SE phones use Symbian OS, but what you get with your iPhone is Mac OS X, which is default operating system for Apple PC, and should be far more robust and feature rich than Symbian.

What all these define?

They tell you, you can just use your fingers to touch, swipe the iPhone screen for various operations including typing notes, dialing number, etc and dedicated OS means, you can have ‘N’ number of applications in your iPhone swarming across the globe. But for that you have to wait until official SDK from Apple matures, it will not take much time though. Can’t wait, then you can join the world of JailBreakers! Wait for my next post on the same to know more!

Google SMS

Did google ever disappointed with any of their endeavors, this might be extremely late information from my side, but recently came across, Google SMS

What u do with it? Send SMS to 5GOOG, which is 54664, with text as ‘movies chennai’, instantly you’ll get movies running in chennai, then type the movie number listed and send it again, you’ll receive theaters running the selected movie with show timings and phone no(for few). Cool.

Check out the site, you have so many things from converting USD to converting pound to kilograms! + others local specific. And if you are online you can try out all the SMS commands, and you get instant reply from demo phone in the same page, with the same results you’ll get in your mobile! Though full fledged Google site is much better than demo mobile phone, I really like to use the demo phone for these local specific search results even when I’m online, it is cool, smart, and limited results!

p.s. Check the charges for your carrier, for Airtel it is 2 Rupees for each query, incoming results is free.
