i introducing iPhone

By santhoshr

Okey, I got the damnest gadget in the world [as of today]. Is it really worth the hype? You bet, it is.

What is special about iPhone?

  • Phone, don’t’ tell obviously, it such a neat gadget you almost forget it is a phone, so when you get a call you really feel surprised. I long wished for a PDA, to carry my stuff and to have a sleek and small phone even it is going to be cheap that would be for phone usage alone and PDA covers else. Now the iPhone does everything and also it is a phone, hurray!
  • Organizer, neat and simple application to schedule your Events.
  • iPod, if you don’t know what is iPod, it is one of THE best music player, and foremost one to revolutionize the world of mp3 players, so you get a latest generation of iPod with your iPhone, hey it is not separate gadget or a component, it is in-built, only one sleek device is what you have to use. So your iPhone is your iPod!
  • Videos, revolutionary touch screen which is bright and crisp means you are going to get stunning visual quality when you do watch movies with your iPhone. I bet you would never have seen such a sharp, crystal-clear display in your life in an mobile device.
  • Camera, obvious stuff for a mobile device nowadays, you get 2 mp camera, which is very good.
  • Good pair of headphones, isn’t it is petty thing to discuss? NO headphones are as important as the device, if you don’t have good pair of headphones, your iPhone/mp3 player is of little use to get rich sound into your ears! Most of the great device (Mp3 Players/Music Phones) will not ship good headphones, so you end up buying a good headphone from Shure, Sennheiser if you aware of headphone importance. Forget all that, iPhone ships very good headphone, probably you don’t need to buy another, it also has cute button for hands-free usage and a mic.
  • Photos, store all your fav. photo and it got nice software to show it to your friends, what not, even the hardware plays with you, just flip/turn the phone, the direction you turn, the photos too turn

To be honest isn’t all these above functionality is provided by latest phones from Nokia, SE?

To a layman, yes it is all same, even to those who have not laid their hands on the iPhone. As I did, I tell you why it is not. First the hardware is not the same as you have seen in your lifetime (unless you are an electronic scientist) it got volume up/down button, ringer/silence, home and power buttons alone. To make a call, send an sms, store notes you will use the whole pure flat touch screen along with accelerometer and other sensors, the software running under those touchscreen are not just mobile firmware like most of Nokia phones, it is Operating System (OS) similar to your personal computer (PC). Some Nokia/SE phones use Symbian OS, but what you get with your iPhone is Mac OS X, which is default operating system for Apple PC, and should be far more robust and feature rich than Symbian.

What all these define?

They tell you, you can just use your fingers to touch, swipe the iPhone screen for various operations including typing notes, dialing number, etc and dedicated OS means, you can have ‘N’ number of applications in your iPhone swarming across the globe. But for that you have to wait until official SDK from Apple matures, it will not take much time though. Can’t wait, then you can join the world of JailBreakers! Wait for my next post on the same to know more!
